Fake Xiaomi Products worth 13 lakhs Seized: Here’s How To Identify Genuine Xiaomi Products
Xiaomi has registered tremendous success in the Indian market. The brand has been growing strength to strength even as it expands to lifestyle and other categories. With this surge in popularity, there have been instances when counterfeit Xiaomi products were reported. Today, Delhi’s popular Gaffar Market police seized fake Xiaomi products estimated to be worth over Rs. 13 lacs. Four people have been held with over 2000 duplicate Xiaomi products.
The seized consignment includes counterfeit Xiaomi Mi Powerbanks, Mi Neckbands, Mi Travel Adaptor with Cable, Mi Earphone Basic with Mic, Mi Wireless Headsets, Redmi Air Dots, Mi 2-in-1 USB Cable, etc. Apart from these, a range of mobile accessories that weren’t even launched officially in India was also seized.
This raises serious concerns for buyers who need to be very careful before buying a phone and accessories. If you are wondering whether your Xiaomi phone or power bank is genuine or not, you can verify your product following these steps:
How to Check Xiaomi Product is Genuine or not:
Here’s how to check Xiaomi products if there are genuine or fake:
- Check Security Codes
Xiaomi adds security codes in some of its products like Mi PowerBanks which can be verified on the Mi.com Here’s the link.
- Observe Packaging Closely
The quality of fake retail boxes is likely to be inferior in the case of fake products. There’s a good chance that the fake product has a different packaging design than a genuine product. You can check the official website or visit the Mi store to validate the original packaging.
- Check for Mi Logo
The genuine product package will carry a Mi website logo.
- Mi Fit app compatibility
Only Mi fitness band and watch will be compatible with the official Mi fit app.
- Read the fine print carefully
Xiaomi says “its original batteries will carry a sign stating them to be Li-Poly batteries”. So if at the bottom of your power bank you find ‘Li-ion’ instead of Li-Poly’ it means that they are not genuine.
