The progress of countries in the current era has become very dependent on technology, which is applied in all areas, such a social, economic and political. Understanding the significance of technology is considered as an absolute necessity for youthful and senior citizens. The emergence of technology has increased our knowledge. Technology is defined as an arrangement of learning which aims at creating and developing tools, handling strategies and material extraction. The uses of technology in our lives are unlimited, such as work, communication, transportation, learning, manufacturing, data security etc. Technology is human knowledge that contains tools, materials and systems. The application of technology usually leads to the manufacture of products. If the technology is applied well, it will benefit humans and vice versa. Accordingly, there are three elements of technology that are deemed necessary for any country that wants to progress in the future, namely artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and big data.
AI, ML and big data: Definitions and applications
In fact, AI is based on the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. For instance, the recognition of speech, decision-making, visual perception and translation between languages are all the traits of human intelligence. In other words, AI is regarded as a way of making software and hardware act and think as human. However, ML is the development of new algorithms and models in computer science. Algorithms are a series of instructions used to solve a problem. The purpose of algorithms lies in guiding computers in new tasks. Therefore, they are the building blocks of the advanced digital world that we see today. The significance of computer algorithms is manifested in organising huge amounts of data in information and services that are based on specific instructions and rules. In addition, ML is a part of artificial intelligence, but more specific than the overall concept. ML depends on the idea that we can build machines to process data and learn on their own, without constant supervision. ML enables computers to view the text and determine whether the content is positive or negative. They can tell if the song will make people sad rather than happy. Some of these devices can create their own compositions with attributes according to what people have heard.
The communication with people is considered one of the key applications of automated learning. The AI field called natural language processing employs several machine learning, all… of which allow companies to offer automated customer service that will be as helpful as human customer support. Both AI and ML can have valuable business applications. In general, determine which is best for your company depending on your needs. These systems have many great applications, but ML has acquired more publicity recently. Therefore, many companies have focused on this source of solutions. However, AI can be useful for many simple applications that do not require ML.
The impact of the use of such technologies on the development of human areas can have a multiplier effect in developing countries. To clarify, some have abundant reserves of natural resources, but lack the equipment and tools to explore them. For the purpose of overcoming life-threatening, economic and technological problems, the power of AI, companies, non-governmental organisations and governments must be used which, in turn, will improve the wealth and livelihoods of communities in the developing world. In respect to the challenges and economic problems, they can be resolved through AI technology and the democratisation of data that will lead to more transparent governance. Consequently, people will be active and understand what is going on behind the scenes. Furthermore, Amnesty International can improve the different sectors, give us the advantage we need, increase effective agricultural production, discover new areas and finally make a diverse and competitive economy like South Africa.
Big data refers to a data set that is either too difficult or too complex to store or process with a typical data management tool or application. In addition, it approximates an understanding that cannot be dealt with on a normal computer alone through a simple database. The world’s data volume is steadily increasing. According to some estimates, 90 per cent of the world’s data has been created in the past two years and is expected to increase by 40 per cent annually. A large part of this output is either “data exhaustion”, or data collected negatively from daily interactions with digital products or services, including mobile phones, credit cards and social media. This flood of digital data is known as “big data”. Data is increasingly being collected by cheap and numerous information sensors and portable devices, and the world’s information storage capacity has nearly doubled every 40 months since the 1980s. According to the World Academy of Sciences, big data collection and management may be a daunting task for developing countries, but they may also provide solutions to hunger, health and climate change.
In conclusion, the government in every country should consider this issue because of the technological progress at all economic, social, political and military levels.
